The RP Baffour Foundation was established in 2020 in memory of the late Dr. Robert Patrick Baffour an educationist, the first Ghanaian mechanical engineer, a playwright, historian and a sportsman. He was the first Vice-Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, the first African to chair the International Atomic Energy Agency and the lead in establishing the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission.
“He played other key roles in Ghana’s development under the first President of the Republic of Ghana Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He tutored and mentored several prominent Ghanaians some of whom are still living and are contributing significantly to the nation’s development.” He was passionate about education believing strongly in developing human capital for national development.
The Robert Patrick Baffour Foundation’s mission is to become a premier organisation utilising innovative interventions in health and, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and creative arts education that lead to sustainable economic and community development.
The overall goal is to develop future leaders with integrity and discipline out of underprivileged children. Specifically, the Robert Patrick Baffour Foundation aims to:
1. Employ state-of-the-art systems of intramural and extramural programs to support the education of underserved children
2. Provide support for underserved but talented students exhibiting the potential to succeed in various STEM and arts avenues.
3. Operate under the paradigm that ‘Health is Wealth, a model for health intervention in communities that promote health and sustainable economic development.
